UFC Strikeforce merger:
After Zuffa announced the coming merger of Strikeforce into the UFC ranks, back in March, the company has released very little information.
It seems as though the UFC wants to make the deal happen without making too much noise. The UFC has already established and, at the time of this article, canceled a match slated for one Strikeforce fighter, Nick Diaz vs GSP in UFC 137.
Unfortunately for Diaz he has been replaced by Carlos Condit, due to not being able to keep commitments. According to USA Today:
In Carlos Condit, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has someone grateful for opportunities rather than resentful about obligations.
Condit broke out in tears Wednesday when UFC offered him an Oct. 29 title fight with welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre, following the removal of Nick Diaz as challenger. Hours later, Condit remained a bit surprised by the turn of events that moved him from a fight with former beltholder BJ Penn to a turn with St. Pierre.
This comes after Nick Diaz failed to make his second press commitment to promote the Georges St Pierre vs Nick Diaz fight.
With Alister Overeem out for the next big Strikeforce Grand Prix, and Dan Henderson already having been a UFC fighter, the UFC looks to be taking quite a bit more talent into its ranks.
