UFC on FX 2: Results

UFC on FX 2 is over and in the wake lies both answers and questions as to who will be the new UFC flyweight champion.  This card, which aired live from Australia, really secured the fight night shows on FX as being legitimate competitions that warrant the attention of fight fans world-wide.  This event marked the 200th in UFC history.  On a side note I would like to thank the UFC for its tireless dedication in bringing the most entertaining fight match ups the world has ever seen.  Without further ado here are the results:

Oli Thompson vs. Shawn Jordan Jordan overwhelmed Thompson with impressive striking and managed to get a referee stoppage at 3:53 of the second round.

Daniel Pineda vs. Mackens Semerzier Pineda proved to be the dominant Jiu Jitsu fighter as he secured a beautiful submission at 2:05 of round one.

T.J. Waldburger vs. Jake Hecht T.J. demonstrated a beautiful armbar finish in only 55 seconds of the first round, looking extremely impressive.

Kyle Noke vs. Andrew Craig This fight went the distance where, in the end, all three judges scored the fight for Craig.

Cole Miller vs. Steven Siler Another fight going the distance proved Siler to be the better fighter for the night, according to judges.  All three judges scored this fight 29-28.

Anthony Perosh vs. Nick Penner Nick Penner really put in his work when he eventually got the referee to intervene, due to strikes thrown from his ground and pound, with only 1 second left in the first round.

James Te Huna vs. Aaron Rosa Te Huna proved to be quite the brute in this fight, where he finished off Aaron Rosa, at 2:08 of the first round, earning the victory by way of right hands to Rosas face.

Court McGee vs. Constantinos Philippou This fight went the distance and it was Philippou who managed to secure a unanimous decision.

Demetrious Johnson vs. Ian McCall this fight was extremely close and ended up going the distance.  The official ruling after the fight ended up being a decision win for Demetrious Johnson, which was later found to be an error in reading the judges score cards.  The fact is that the judges ended up ruling this fight a draw and there should have been a fourth round.  The records will officially state that the fight resulted in a draw.  Dana White addresses this concern in the post fight interview on the accompanying video.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Yasuhiro Urushitani a right hook spelled doom for Urushitani, early in the second round, ending his night and advancing Benavidez in the Flyweight tournament.

Thiago Alves vs. Martin Kampmann the main event was nothing short of breathtaking.  Thiago Alves looked extremely impressive in this fight, overwhelming Kampmann in all aspects of the game.  It appeared as if Kampmann was a little hesitant to get off his strikes against Alves.  Alves, however, looked like he had cleaned up many parts of his fight game, circling the counter puncher and landing nearly at will.  The fight ended up going to the third round where Alves continued to dominate.  Alves, who had dominated the striking for the prior 2 rounds, decided that it was time to take the fight off their feet and secured a double-leg takedown.  The problem, for Alves, is that Kampmann had plans of his own securing a deep guillotine submission forcing Alves to tap at 4:12 of the third round.
