UFC on Fox 6: Results

If you somehow missed the fights this last Saturday, on Fox, we don’t envy you, but here’s a recap of what you missed on what was undoubtedly a great night of mixed martial arts action.

MAIN EVENT

Fly Weight Champion Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson was taken into the championship rounds by John ‘The Magician’ Dodson where Mighty Mouse really turned up the heat, winning both the fourth and fifth rounds decisively, and edged out the challenger by winning the unanimous decision.  However, Dodson really did put on quite the show nearly knocking the champion out in the 2nd round.

Co-Main Event

Rampage Jackson was dominated by Glover Teixeira in a 3 round fight that went to a decision, favoring Glover Teixeira giving him a win a much-needed win over a talented opponent.

Anthony ‘Showtime’ Pettis stated his case for title contension when he beat Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone in an extremely impressive fashion giving rise to hopeful MMA fans that want to see if he can take Gil Melendez’s top spot as the number contender for Benson Henderson’s belt.

Erik ‘New Breed’ Koch ended up getting derailed by Ricardo ‘The Bully’ Lamas who has been having an impressive career since the merger of WEC.  The dominant performance put in by this fighter should really make UFC brass take note as he seems to be moving into top ten contention.

TJ Grant earned an early knockout victory against Matt ‘Handsome’ Wiman when some clinch work near the end of round one spelled doom for Wiman.  TJ Grant through some elbows and short punches that continued to find their mark and end the night for wiman with only 10 seconds left in the round.

Clay ‘The Carpenter’ Guida got his hand raised this Saturday when he met Hatsu Hioki in his 145lb debut.  The fight was very close and ended up resulting in a split decision favoring The Carpenter.

Pascal ‘Panzer’ Krauss showed some seriously disciplined hands when he fought Mike Stumpf where Krauss frustrated him by defending take downs and landing shot seemingly at will.  It was Krauss who ultimately won the decision.

Ryan ‘Darth’ Bader shook Vladimir ‘The Janitor’ Matyushenko early in the first round with a left hook and Bader then immediately jumped on the wobbled Matyushenko to secure a guillotine choke and submit The Janitor.

Mike Russow had the fight going in his favor until a nasty eye poke from Shawn ‘The Savage’ Jordan seemed to turn the fight into his favor ultimately securing a second round TKO.

Rafael ‘Sapo’ Natal secured an arm triangle on Sean ‘Black Magik’ Spencer in the third round after dominating Spencer for the first two rounds.  Official call is Rafael Natal winner by submission due to arm-triangle choke at 2:13 of the third round.

David ‘Daudi’ Mitchell got the unanimous decision victory win over Simeon ‘The Grin’ Thoresen after dominating the fighter for all three rounds.
