UFC Fight Night Charlotte Results – Almeida Remains Unbeaten in UFC
UFC Fight Night Charlotte results have completed from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC. This Fight Night aired live on ABC after the prelims went live on ESPN & ESPN+. Early fights aired as the main card went live at 2:00pm CDT.
Main Event
In the UFC Fight Night main event, heavy handed #9 Jairzinho Rozenstruik took on rising star #12 Jailton Almeida in a heavyweight showdown.
The fight was a traditional striker vs BJJ practitioner. Rozentruik opened up with his hands and Almeida shot in with a weak takedown attempt that Rozenstruik shook off. Another takedown attempt came before the first minute was out and Almeida was successful.
The match didn’t make it too much longer after that. It was all Almeida transitioning and peppering Rozenstruik with shots while he found opportunities to transition to more dominate positions. Once he got into full mount he forced Rozenstruik to give up the back or eat some ground and pound. Rozenstruik gave up his back and tapped due to an Almeida rear naked choke with 1:18 remaining of round 1.

Co-main Event
In the co-main event #5 Anthony Smith wished to defend his top 5 light heavyweight status in the wake of a constantly improving #7 Johnny Walker.

Johnny Walker kept throwing punishing leg kicks which Smith appeared to have no solution. Smith did find success with a few heavy, overhand rights but he would not switch stances to offer his lead leg time to recover.

It seemed as if Johnny Walker was close to finishing the fight however the end wouldn’t come before the final bell sounded. In the end, the judges had it 29-28, 30-27, & 30-27 for the winner by unanimous decision, Johnny Walker.
