At UFC 278, in August 2022, Leon Edwards struggled through 4 rounds with the then pound for pound best fighter in the UFC. Finally, in the last round Leon Edwards connected a high kick that shook the mma world.
Now the fighters are ready to put it all on the line once more as they take it to the rubber band match. The title is on the line, and these two are highly motivated and they will undoubtedly leave it all in the cage.
UFC 286 co-main event – Gaethje vs Fiziev
In the co-main event, Justin Gaethje #3 takes on rising star Rafael Fiziev in a lightweight bout. Fight fans from all over the world are anticipating this bout. The pace is indeed expected to be high and a finish would not come as a surprise to anyone.
Justin Gaethje is no stranger to mma fans the world over. Going through the wars he has been in has earned him a reputation as a thrill to watch. Unfortunately, he suffered some injuries from his fight with Charles Oliveira and a biking incident. Justin appears fully recovered and has his sights set on another championship fight.
Rafael Fiziev has been basically running through competitors, and currently sits at a 6 fight win streak. This #6 lightweight is looking to make a statement against Justin Gaethje (transition word) all while making his own case for a title shot.
The division will have to settle down instead, as the winner of the UFC 288 co-main event will be next up for a title shot. When former lightweight champion, and #1 contender, Charles Oliveira faces off against #6 lightweight Beneil Dariush on May 6.
