The UFC 278 fight card is scheduled and the fighters are set to take the stage Saturday, 8/20/2022, from the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, UT. The early prelims go live at 5:00 PM CDT on UFC Fight Pass and the remainder of the card is on ESPN+ and PPV.
The main event of the card is UFC pound for pound champion, Kamaru Usman vs the #2 competitor in the welterweight division Leon Edwards. Usman and Edwards faced in 2015 originally. In that fight Usman won the judges over in a 5 round grueling battle. Usman has been dominating this division for a long time, however, Edwards has also been on a tear in the welterweight division, boasting wins over Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone, Dos Anjos and more since his title shot.
The co-main event is #6 Paulo Costa vs Luke Rockhold in a middleweight bout. Paulo Costa has not won a fight since his 2019 showing against Romero. Costa went on to face the champion Israel Adesanya but lost due to KO/TKO in the second round. He then went to light heavyweight where he suffered a decision loss to Marvin Vettori, schedule to fight in September. Likewise, Rockhold has not tasted victory since his 2018 knockout victory against David Branch.
The remaining card has some real talent in the sport and appears to be worthy of the PPV price tag that’s associated with it. Here is a promotional video, courtesy of the UFC, of the UFC 278 countdown. Below that, are all the remaining match ups for the UFC 278 fight card.
