The co main event in UFC 142 appears as though it could become a real barn burner for fans of the sport. The former light heavyweight belt holder Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort (20-9), will battle it out with new middleweight Anthony “Rumble” Johnson (10-3). Anthony Johnson has finally made the move up from welterweight after having struggled to make the cut in the past.
Fighting in Vitor’s home country can not be an advantage that Johnson is looking forward to but we have no concerns about him being prepared.
In this fight there are two excellent strikers that pack dynamite in their gloves. The question then becomes, if these two fighters nullify each others striking skills, who will hold the advantage on the mat. That is where much of the excitement of this fight could end up taking place. In Vitor Belfort we have a black belt in BJJ and Anthony Johnson is a world class wrestler. So will the fight end up in a knock out? Will Vitor be able to submit the young wrestler? Or will Anthony Johnson be able to posture up in Vitor’s guard and employ his ground and pound?
