UFC 148 Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen: Matchups and Weigh In Video

So with the most anticipated rematch, possibly in UFC history, only a day away it’s time to post the stare downs and give you all the heads up on what is a very stacked card for tomorrow.  It would be tough to call yourself a mma fan if you let this event pass by without taking note.  This Saturday, July 07 at 7pm/10pm PT/ET from Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena will air live on Pay-per-View the rematch that so many fans have been looking forward to since their first fight in August of 2010.

The first match had mma fans bear witness to what appeared to be the first chink in the armor of a man who so many believed indomitable.  Chael Sonnen took the fight to Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva in a way that none in the UFC had done before or since.  It was Chael that appeared to be writing the blue print on how to dethrone the pound for pound greatest in the UFC.  Anderson would simply not go quietly into that good night though after being dominated for four round Anderson again found himself on his back with the wrestler raining blows on him when he threw a triangle on Chael that made the challenger give up what would have been a no brainer decision.

Both men are now motivated like never before and ready to prove once and for all who will dominate the heap in the UFC middleweight division.  Also the rubber band match will meet its conclusion as two legends of the sport, Tito Ortiz and Forest Griffin, will meet for the third, and more than likely, final time.  Tune in or be doomed to hear all about it without getting to witness this monumental event.

UFC 148 Silva vs Sonnen II: Promotional Video

August of 2010 marked the near defeat, of the once believed unbeatable, greatest mixed martial artist of all time, Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva.  Now Chael Sonnen will get a second chance at dethroning the greatest champion in UFC history.  As if this highly anticipated rematch wasn’t enough for UFC fans, promoters have decided to include the rubber band matchup of Tito Ortiz vs Forest Griffin as well as Urijah Faber fighting Renan Barao for the interim 135lb title.  Don’t miss out on what will be the highest anticipated UFC in recent memory this Saturday, July 07 at 7pm/10pm PT/ET live from Las Vegas, Nevada at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Bantamweight Champ, Dominick Cruz, Tore his ACL and Must Withdrawal from UFC 148 Fight against Urijah Faber

That’s correct, Dominick Cruz has torn his ACL and can not compete against, opposing TUF 15 coach, Urijah Faber for the Bantamweight title, at UFC 148 on Jul 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dana White confirmed the injury, via Twitter, when he wrote, “It’s true Cruz blew his ACL. Stay tuned for more info,”

This event was scheduled to be a co-main event at UFC 148 which is still headed by Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen.  Cruz and Faber are no strangers to each other in the octagon.  Faber and Cruz first met, in competition, at WEC 26 where Faber submitted Cruz by way of guillotine choke in the first round.  The two met again at UFC 133 where Cruz successfully defended his title by way of decision.

Many unanswered questions loom over the injury, which could likely take 9 months or more to recover from.  While we all wish Cruz a speedy recovery, what should happen to the Bantamweight title until his return?  It looks likely that another interim champ will take the stage.
