UFC 280 Weigh Ins

UFC 280 Weigh In fan art

The UFC 280 weigh ins have concluded and the fighters are ready for a night of action. Two titles are on the line when these fighters meet on Saturday, October 22, 2022 live from the Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

The main event features Charles Oliveira against rising Russian phenom Islam Makhachev. Charles Oliveira was relieved of the Lightweight Title after missing weight at UFC 274 by just a half of a pound. He went on to submit Justin Gaethje in the very first round. Charles has made many comments that the only reason he is facing Islam Makhachev is due to Islam’s relationship with MMA superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov and that he should have to fight some top ranked talent before this match should’ve been made.

The co-main event will be for the bantamweight title as TJ Dillashaw #2 faces the champion Aljamain Sterling. Sterling is on a seven fight win streak in the division. Dillashaw has won five of his last six matchups with Henry Cejudo breaking up his winning streak.

UFC 279 Weigh Ins Chimaev vs Diaz

UFC 279 Weigh Ins fan art

The UFC 279 Weigh ins Chimaev vs Diaz fighters have hit the scales and the work has been put in. Of the 26 combatants 23 hit the mark and 3 missed, it just happened to be the main draw of the card, Khamzat Chimaev, who missed by eight pounds. Chris Barnett and Hakeem Dawodu also missed their marks and will likely forfeit a percentage of their fight money. The fight goes live from Vegas on Saturday, September 10, 2022 with early prelims kicking off at 5:00PM CDT via the UFC Fight Pass. With the main card being in jeopardy of getting cancelled or changed.

The main event of the card will be the rising superstar in the sport Khamzat Chimaev, currently ranked 3rd in the welterweight division, vs Nate Diaz, season 5 Ultimate Fighter winner and UFC legend.

The fight has drawn a lot of speculation as to why it was made in the first place. Diaz had called out many fighters in the division to satisfy his contract with the UFC but those matches were not made. If Diaz wins the match, then Chimaev will have a long road ahead of him to make another run at the title and Diaz will have satisfied his contract with the UFC who could then lose a title contender.

If Chimaev wins, which seems likely considering the odds, then it does little to rise his rankings. Considering that he is fighting a seasoned veteran in the sport who may be on his way out. However, hard core fans will know that another real trial awaits Chimaev and a good performance here will likely increase his fan base.

The co-main event of the evening will be the Chinese phenom Li ‘Leech’ Jingliang #14 vs Tony Ferguson #11 in the welterweight division. The ‘Leech’ has won five of his last seven bouts with one of those losses coming from headliner Khamzat Chimaev. Ferguson looks to get his record back into the win column having lost his last four fights, although his opponents were the best in the division.

Here’s a video of the UFC 279″ Live Weigh-In Show, courtesy of the UFC. Below the video are the remaining UFC 279 Weigh in results, which will be updated as they roll in.

UFC 277 Weigh Ins

UFC 277 Weigh Ins fan art

The UFC 277 weigh ins have concluded and only two fighters missed weight, both were in the prelim line up. Other than that, the fighters are primed and ready to put on a show this Saturday, July 30th.

The main event for the card are the UFC Ultimate Fighter coaches, and championship rivals, Juliana Pena vs Amanda Nunes. Pena upset the former champion when she submitted Nunes at UFC 269. Neither fighter has fought since, making this Pena’s first title defense.

Also on the card, the co-main event of the night, are top flyweights #1 Brandon Moreno vs #2 Kai Kara France for the interim flyweight title. The title was vacated by Deiveson Figueiredo when a miscommunication occurred which over stated the seriousness of an injury.
