Bellator 290 Fight Card, Ryan Bader vs Fedor Emelianenko for the Light Heavyweight Crown

That’s right, the Bellator 290 fight card will pit an mma GOAT against the current light heavyweight title holder, Ryan Bader. The event will air live on Saturday February 4, 2023 live from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, CA.

Ryan Bader is looking to defend his title for the second time, since winning it in January of last year against former, interim champion, Valentin Moldavsky at Bellator 273. Bader defeated Emelianenko in January of 2019 by way of round 1 TKO, which won him the heavyweight title. Now the two will square off again which will undoubtedly lead to some heavy, leather flying.

Long time MMA fans are no stranger to Russian fighter Fedor ‘The Last Emperor’ Emelianenko. Having been inactive for nearly two years should play in favor for the champion, Ryan Bader. Fader has upset some amazing fighters in the past, however, will he be able to do it again at 46. Either way, this will be his retirement fight, and we wish him the best and thank him for the years of entertaining brutality.

Bellator vs Rizin Results

Bellator vs Rizin Results fan art

The Bellator vs Rizin results are in and it was a clean sweep for the Bellator fighters. The Rizin fighters put on an awesome show though and made for some really competitive matchups. All of the fights were held on New Years Eve 2022 live from the Saitama Super Arena following Rizin 40.

Here’s the Bellator, Year in Review of 2022. It was a great year for the sport and here’s to many more.

In the main event, Bellator fighter AJ McKee was the last to make his stand against Rizin champion and BJJ expert Roberto Satoshi Souza. Aj McKee was able to be more effective with his striking and had enough ground skill to keep the world renowned BJJ expert from securing a submission. Even when Satoshi was on his back with a body triangle and plenty of time to work, AJ would not be submitted. In fact, it was AJ McKee who stole a round which was heavily controlled by Souza, until AJ broke free and delivered the most significant strikes in the fight near the end of round two. Ultimately, it was AJ who won a unanimous decision.

In the co-main event, Rizin’s Kleber Koike vs Bellator’s Patricio Pitbull the fight was a bit of a lack luster affair. Koike was attempting to get to grappling with Pitbull but had very limited success in doing so. Even when he was capable of taking the Bellator featherweight champion down he was unable to hold him there or really threaten. It was Patricio who used his strikes to dish out enough damage to win on all three judges scorecards.

Bellator vs Rizin Results

Main Card (aired on Showtime 8:00pm ET)

Roberto Satoshi Souza (14-2-0) vs AJ McKee (20-1-0) – lightweight main event – McKee by unanimous decision

Kleber Koike (31-6-1) vs Patricio Pitbull (35-5-0) – featherweight co-main event – Pitbull by unanimous decision

Hiromasa Ougikubo (25-7-2) vs Kyoji Horiguchi (30-5-0) – flyweight feature bout – Horiguchi by unanimous decision

Soo Chul Kim (18-7-1) vs Juan Archuleta (27-4-0) – bantamweight feature bout – Archuleta by split decision

Koji Takeda (15-4-0) vs Gadzhi Rabadanov (19-4-1) – lightweight feature bout – Rabadanov by unanimous decision

That wraps it up for the Bellator vs Rizin results. The next event, being held by Bellator, won’t be until Saturday, February 4th, when two titles go up for grabs at Bellator 290. The first event of the year for the promoter will feature the rematch of Ryan Bader vs the legend Fedor Emelianenko. Also on the card, middleweight champion Johnny Eblen vs Anatoly Tokov from the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, CA.

Bellator 289 Results, Stots vs Sabatello

Bellator 289 Results fan art

The Bellator 289 results are in for Stots vs Sabatello. It was another highly entertaining night put on by Bellator. The event went live December 9, 2022 from Uncasville, CT. All fights aired live on Showtime.

In the main event, Raufeon Stots vs Danny Sabatello for the interim bantamweight championship, the fight went the distance in favor for the defending champion. The game plan was clear throughout the fight. Stots was looking to strike with his opponent while Sabatello was after ground control. It was Stots who appeared to have the better strategy however. Even when Sabatello got the fight to the ground, it appeared to be Stots who was the bigger threat from his back, attempting submissions and continuing to throw elbows. Two of the three judges saw it for the defending champion. Here’s Sabatello’s thoughts on the decision, courtesy of MMA Fighting on SBN.

This sets up a fight between Raufeon Stots vs Patchy Mix for the Grand Prix final and the chance to take home a million dollars. Mix had an excellent performance against his opponent Magomed Magomedov. Mix used his boxing to nullify Magomedov’s strikes until he was able to secure a round 2 guillotine choke that turned off the lights for Magomedov.

The co-main event was champion Liz Carmouche vs Julianna Velasquez in the women’s flyweight championship. This was their second meeting of the year. In the first fight Velasquez was winning before a controversial finish saw Carmouche win. In this fight Carmouche put the doubters to rest as she came out aggressive and dominated the fight with her grappling before ending the fight in the second round via armbar submission.

Here’s Liz Carmouche at the post fight press conference, courtesy of Bellator MMA. Below that are the remaining Bellator 289 results, Stots vs Sabatello.

Bellator 288 Results

Bellator 288 Results fan art

The Bellator 288 results are in the books. This one was on fire in the prelims. Nearly every fight in the main card went the distance with the exception of Daniel James’ TKO win.

Nemkov vs Anderson finally answered the questions left in their last fight. Nemkov proved to be the better rounded fighter on this night. He was able to stop Andersons’ takedowns, and offer some good striking that was being really felt by Anderson. In the end the judges got this one right giving Nemkov the decision

A sweep for the Russian fighters tonight. That’s right Patricky Pitbull will not be taking the $1million home as he was dominated by Usman Nurmagomdeov. Usman looks like his time may come to be called up to the UFC if he continues to perform at this level. Being the brother Khabib Nurmagomedov he may be in need of tougher competition.

Bellator 288 Fight Card

Bellator 288 Fight Card Fan Art

The Bellator 288 fight card is set to go down this Friday, November 18, 2022 live from the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL. This fight card features two title fights, when light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov faces Corey Anderson, and lightweight champion Patricky Pitbul faces the undefeated Usman Nurmagomedov.

The light heavyweight champion, Vadim Nemkov and Corey Anderson faced each other in April of this year at Bellator 277. That fight was ruled a no contest after an unintentional headbutt ended the fight. Many questions will hopefully get answered when these two meet again.

The lightweight championship will also be up for grabs when champion Patricky Pitbull meets undefeated Usman Nurmagomedov. The champion is back to defend his belt after a year away. Nurmagomedov looks to continue his impressive, three in a row, first round stoppages. Ring rust could play a factor but if the champs fight camp holds up then we should be in for a great contest.
