Anderson Silva: Battling Inuries
Anderson Silva, the UFC middleweight champion, has been out of the fight game since we last saw him in August of 2011 where he defended his title, and avenged a loss, against Yushin Okami at UFC 134 on August 27, 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since that time Anderson has been plagued with a shoulder injury that has kept the fighter sidelined and now it seems he is facing another injury, this one affecting his back. So will Anderson be able to overcome his injuries and defend his title again? It seems as though the fighter will be coming back to the octagon in June of this year to face Chael Sonnen once again. However, it seems neither fighter is too certain that this fight will be taking place as an official offer, for the title fight, has yet to be seen.
As for Anderson Silva being completely rehabilitated from his injuries Anderson had this to say on a video found on Sherdog,
“It’s a job all athletes have to do. You work at prevention from doing therapy all the time to correcting posture and breathing, to avoid the injuries. But no matter how much I did, I ended up hurt, first with my shoulder now with my back. You reach a certain age where you don’t heal as fast, so you have to take your time. I don’t want anything to be wrong when I come back to the real hard training.” Anderson admitted. “I’ll continue doing physical therapy until the pain goes away, and I’ll keep up the workouts.”
