UFC 285 Fight Card, Jones vs Gane – The Return of a Legend

UFC 285 Fight card is set for the Jones vs Gane heavyweight title fight. When the event goes live on pay-per-view Saturday, March 4th, 2023 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV at 9:00pm CST. This may be the most stacked card of the year.

Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane – Main Event

In the main event, Jon Jones makes his long awaited return after a three year hiatus. Not only is Jones making a return, after a long stretch away from the sport, but he’s doing it at heavyweight for the title. His opponent, the #1 ranked light heavyweight in the world, Ciryl Gane. All signs point to an electric main event.

Jones has let on that he never took a break from his training. Before the pandemic broke out, Jones had setup a home based gym where continued a relentless grind and strength training program that would enable him to gain the weight gradually while keeping his usual speed and form. The night will tell if this legend has done the right things to move into this top division.

Across the octagon from Jon Jones, enters the #1 heavyweight and former interim heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane. Gane boasts an impressive 11-1-0 record. His single loss comes from a unanimous decision in favor of former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Overall Gane is a world class striker and will likely try to keep this fight on the feet.

Surprisingly it was originally Francis Ngannou who was slated to fight against Jones in his return. While trying to get Ngannou to resign with the organization, negotiations broke down and the fighter was ultimately released from the UFC, and as of now, that fight eludes us.

Will it be the long awaited return of the GOAT or the former interim and #1 heavyweight contender?

Valentina Shevchenko vs Alexa Grasso – Co-main Event

courtesy of UFC/YouTube

Equally important is the co-main event, women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko takes on #6 flyweight Alexa Grasso. Valentina Shevchenko is one of the best fighters on the planet, Shevchenko is featured in our top 10 female UFC fighters post. A win here would put Shevchenko on a 10 fight win streak with 8 title defenses.

She’ll be facing Mexican fighter and #6 flyweight Alexa Grasso (15-3-0). Grasso is on a four fight win streak and is ready to make her appearance against the UFC’s #2 pound for pound female fighter. Grasso will likely have her work cut out for her on this night, hopefully a great fight camp as prepared this talented fighter.

Furthermore, whoever wins the UFC flyweight championship will likely be in discussions to face Erin Blanchfield. Blanchfield shocked the world with her 2nd round submission of Jessica Andrade at UFC Vegas 69. Certainly we’re excited to see the results and aftermath of one of the most anticipated cards of 2023.

Who will the UFC 285 co-main event? Women's flyweight champion or the #6 contender from Mexico?

UFC Vegas 70 Results – Allen wins by Submission

Brendan Allen at his UFC Vegas 70 win
courtesy of UFC/YouTube

Nikita Krylov fell ill the night of the fight and the main card got scrapped and moved Andre Muniz vs Brendan Allen for the main event of the night. An interview with Ryan Spann, shows the emotion from the fighter who was unable to perform for the nights headline.

The co-main event was moved over to the headline fight, where Brendan Allen faced Andre Muniz for a middleweight bout. Allen was able to weather the early storm and after the fight made it to the mat in the third round, Allen found success with a rear-naked choke that had the #11 ranked middleweight tapping out.

It would be shocking to see that Allen is not going to move up to a top 15 ranking. Defeated a #11 ranked opponent, who was on a winning streak himself, should end the debate.

Tatiana Suarez is likely to be a big talking point for the night. Her highly anticipated return was no let down. Injuries had kept her sidelined since June of 2019. She looked to be in top form at UFC Vegas 70.

Hopefully, with this performance, she can get back into discussions of competing with some of the other elite, divisional talent. Here are the remaining results.

Bellator 291 Results: Amosov Cements his Legacy

Yaroslav Amosov after winning at Bellator 291
courtesy of Bellator/YouTube

The Bellator 291 Results are in for Amosov vs Storley 2. The event went down live from the 3 Arena in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, February 25, 2023, airing on Showtime.

In the main event, Yaroslav Amosov made his debut, since vacating the title to serve his homeland in Ukraine for the past year. An endearing and difficult background set the stage for the unification of the welterweight world championship. The championship currently being held by the interim champion Logan Storley, when he defeated MVP in May of 2022.

Amosov vs Storley 2 may have gone to a decision, but it was not as competitive as their first fight. The first round resulted in Storley wearing damage with a cut over his right eye. The night didn’t get better for Storley after that.

Some serious Yaroslav Amosov leg kicks got Storley’s attention who then shifted to southpaw. Amosov stuffed shots, secured a couple of takedowns, and continued to batter Storley on the feet.

Nobody was surprised when the winner was announced to be Yaroslav Amosov who seemed to have 10-9 rounds in each round of the fight. In the octagon interview he appeared to be nothing but class, thanking the Ukrainian Army and those who help. Below are the remaining nights results.

UFC Vegas 69 Results: Blanchfield in Top 5

UFC Vegas 69 Erin Blanchfield Wins
courtesy of UFC/YouTube

UFC Vegas 69 results are in and Erin Blanchfield moves to the top 5. The event went down at the UFC APEX Arena on Saturday February 18, 2023 and could be seen through ESPN+.

In the main event, #10 Erin Blanchfield submitted #3 Jessica Andrade in an impressive showing and a second round stoppage on one of the best female fighters in the sport. It’s likely this performance will cause an adjustment in our Top 10 Female UFC Fighters article.

The standup was surprising to many, as it seemed that Blanchfield had an answer to Andrade’s powerful striking, by utilizing a lengthy jab and a well timed cross. Once the second round got about halfway in, Blanchfield found success with a takedown and immediately got Adrades back and neck. Moments later, she sunk in a rear-naked choke that had the former champion tapping.

The 23 year old was impressive in her showing and went on to call out the champion, Valentina Shevchenko. She even goes on in the post fight press conference, confirming that she hopes Shevchenko wins at UFC 285, as Erin Blanchfield wants to be the one who takes the belt from Shevchenko.

In the co-main event, Jordan Wright had no success against the game plan setup by Zac Pauga and his camp. Pauga was able to secure the fight against the cage and found success with sharp elbows. The bloodied Jordan Wright didn’t have an answer to being pinned to the cage though Wright offered his own sharp elbows keeping Pauga from completing the takedown.

By the end of the fight, Pauga had decidedly won all three rounds and looked no worse for the wear. Zac Pauga won this by unanimous decision, leaving Wright with his fifth straight loss.

Below are the remaining results for UFC Vegas 69.

The PFL Challenger series week 4 fight card 2023 is set to take center stage on Friday February 17, 2023. The event is going down from Universal Studios in Orlando, FL and can be seen live on Fubo Sports.

The cards are looking to be pretty well stacked. With two of the fighters coming in with undefeated records, undoubtedly ready to put on a show. And the featured image having a fighter (Jose Aguayo) with an undeniably similar face off pose as hall of famer Nate Diaz.

The competitors have already completed making weight and they are ready for tomorrows competition.

The Challenger Series has had a great set of fights during it’s first three weeks. The fights will go on for a total of eight weeks, with each week representing a different weight class. The final week will showcase 2nd chance fighters. Many fighters have competed for the contract and have had amazing performances. However, with only one fighter getting the contract each week, a lot of talent has walked out empty handed.

Below are the remaining fight matchups for this Friday’s competition.
