UFC 280 Results

The UFC 280 Results are in and one belt has changed hands. The event was headlined by two title fights, with a large anticipation for Petr Yan vs Sean O’Malley. The event was live from Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on October 22, 2022.

Oliveira vs Makhachev had its moments but ultimately it was Makhachev who secured a second round arm triangle, that followed a hard right hand which dropped the former champion. The win was a proud moment for Makhachev’s corner which features MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Aljamain Sterling retained the bantamweight title after TJ Dillashaw was having issues with his left shoulder kept popping out of socket. It happened in the first round but between rounds it seemed his corner was able to reposition it into place. After it popped out again in the second round Sterling smelled blood and kept the pressure on his opponent securing a second round TKO victory.

Another huge winner for the night was the decision victory that underdog Sean O’Malley secured when he faced the number one bantamweight contender, and largely favored, Petr Yan. The fight was a grueling war that kept a back and forth pace. In the end, it was O’Malley that did enough to impress the judges in a split decision victory.

Here’s a video of the post fight press conference, courtesy of the UFC. Below that are the remaining UFC 280 Results.

UFC 280 Weigh Ins

The UFC 280 weigh ins have concluded and the fighters are ready for a night of action. Two titles are on the line when these fighters meet on Saturday, October 22, 2022 live from the Etihad Arena on Yas Island.

The main event features Charles Oliveira against rising Russian phenom Islam Makhachev. Charles Oliveira was relieved of the Lightweight Title after missing weight at UFC 274 by just a half of a pound. He went on to submit Justin Gaethje in the very first round. Charles has made many comments that the only reason he is facing Islam Makhachev is due to Islam’s relationship with MMA superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov and that he should have to fight some top ranked talent before this match should’ve been made.

The co-main event will be for the bantamweight title as TJ Dillashaw #2 faces the champion Aljamain Sterling. Sterling is on a seven fight win streak in the division. Dillashaw has won five of his last six matchups with Henry Cejudo breaking up his winning streak.

Below is a video of the UFC 280 ceremonial weigh in, courtesy of the UFC. Below the video the full fight card weigh in results are announced with only one fighter missing weight, Katlyn Chookagian.
